McDermott Partners Named “BTI Client Service All-Stars” 2014

Overview

CHICAGO and WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 18, 2014) – Two McDermott Will & Emery partners were named “Client Service All-Stars” in the 2014 edition of BTI Consulting Group’s (BTI) annual report surveying the nation’s top lawyers in the area of client service.

Specifically, Washington, D.C.-based Trial partner Bobby Burchfield and, for the second consecutive year, David Marx, head of the Firm’s Chicago Antitrust and Competition Practice Group, were cited as “BTI Client Service All-Stars” in the latest edition of the report. This year, BTI conducted over 300 individual interviews with corporate counsel at Fortune 1000 companies and large organizations to probe clients on every aspect of law firm relationships, needs and priorities.

“We congratulate Bobby and David on being recognized for what they are: admirable attorneys and leaders of client service excellence,” said McDermott co-chairs Jeffrey E. Stone and Peter J. Sacripanti. “Delivering superior client service is a top priority of the Firm, and the fact that our attorneys are consistently recognized by BTI is a reflection of this enduring commitment, and the dedication our attorneys have to nurturing strong client relationships.

Mr. Burchfield, a member of the Firm’s Management Committee, is a courtroom lawyer who focuses his practice on antitrust, securities and complex corporate litigation. He has tried cases to juries on behalf of a number of clients, and has never lost a jury trial. Mr. Burchfield’s other trial experience includes bench trials, a number of major arbitrations and almost two dozen appellate cases. He was ranked highly in the 2012 issue of Chambers and Partners for complex litigation and national political law, has been named three times as one of the top 500 lawyers in America by LawDragon, as a “Leading Individual” in commercial litigation by Benchmark Litigation, one of the top commercial litigators in the United States by Who’s Who Legal: USA, and one of the top 100 lawyers in the D.C. area by Super Lawyers. Best Lawyers in America has listed him (most recently for Antitrust, Commercial, and First Amendment Litigation) for eleven consecutive years. By appointment of President George W. Bush, he served on the Antitrust Modernization Commission, which issued its Report and Recommendations on April 2, 2007.

Mr. Marx focuses his practice on civil and criminal antitrust litigation and counseling, distribution issues and trade regulation matters. He also counsels corporate and health care industry clients, and individuals who are the subjects or targets of investigations or enforcement proceedings initiated by federal or state antitrust agencies, as well as parties in private civil litigation. He is ranked in the 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 editions of Chambers USA as a top antitrust attorney and is recognized by The Legal 500 United States in this field. He has been named an Illinois Super Lawyer by Law & Politics and is also listed in The Best Lawyers in America (2009-2013) for health care law. Mr. Marx is a former senior trial lawyer with the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission. He is also a past chair of the Antitrust Committee of the Chicago Bar Association and the former chair of the Antitrust Law Committee of the American Health Lawyers Association.
