Overview
International law firm McDermott Will & Schulte announced that Emily Chen has joined the firm as a partner in New York. A seasoned commercial litigator with deep antitrust experience, Emily represents organizations in complex, high-stakes commercial disputes and internal investigations, with a focus on class action litigation and securities enforcement matters. She joins from Kirkland & Ellis.
“Emily is an exceptional litigator whose experience in antitrust litigation, class actions, and complex commercial litigation will be a tremendous asset to our clients, particularly those operating in healthcare and other highly regulated industries,” said Josh Simon, global head of McDermott’s Litigation Practice Group. “Her arrival further strengthens our rapidly expanding New York litigation platform and builds on the momentum of our merger as we continue to grow one of the most dynamic litigation teams globally.”
She brings significant experience litigating antitrust and complex commercial matters, representing clients across the higher education, healthcare, energy, technology, media and entertainment, and financial services sectors. She also has a strong track record defending major accounting and consulting firms in investigations by the US Department of Justice, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, and state attorneys general.
“I am thrilled to join McDermott at such an exciting moment in the firm’s growth trajectory,” Emily said. “Its collaborative culture, commitment to excellence, and strong global presence make it an ideal home for my practice. I look forward to working with my new colleagues to help clients navigate their most significant disputes.”
Emily also serves as Co-Chair of the Asian American Bar Association of New York’s Mentorship Committee. Her arrival supports the continued growth of McDermott’s litigation capabilities following the merger, including the recent addition of commercial litigator Jenny Lee from Kirkland & Ellis, and reflects the firm’s strategic investment in New York.
