Overview
Elias Eliopoulos advises clients on commercial real estate matters, including sales and acquisitions of office, hotel, and multifamily assets; mortgage and mezzanine financings; and preferred equity transactions, and the structuring of joint ventures for the purchase, development, and operation of real estate assets. He has broad experience in commercial leasing, including representing landlords and tenants in the leasing of office and retail spaces. He also has extensive experience representing owners and managers in the acquisition, financing, and operation of hotel assets, including the negotiation of hotel management agreements and leases for food and beverage facilities.
Many of Elias’s representations have spanned the asset life cycle, from initial acquisition, joint venture, and financing, to development, repositioning, refinancing, and ultimate disposition. His clients include office building and hotel investors, developers and operators, investment banks, and other US and non-US investors.
Results
- Represented RFR Holding in the $1.2 billion mortgage financing of 375 Park Avenue, the landmarked office tower in New York commonly known as the Seagram Building
- Represented a joint venture between RFR Holding and Tricap regarding the $425 million sale of the W South Beach hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, to the Reuben Brothers
- Represented RFR Holding in the disposition of the office and retail condominium units comprising 522 Fifth Avenue in New York to a large online retailer
- Represented SL Green Realty Corp. in its $430 million refinancing of the office building at 100 Park Avenue in New York
- Represented RFR Holding in the $560 million sale of 980 Madison Avenue, a landmarked mixed-use office and retail building in New York, to a company affiliated with Michael Bloomberg
- Represented an international investment bank in its build-to-suit lease of a new 800,000-square-foot office building in Dallas
- Represented ZAIS Group in its sale of student housing projects in Arkansas, Texas, and Alabama
- Represented a joint venture between RFR Holding and SIGNA Holding GmbH regarding their acquisition and related financing of the landmark Chrysler Building in New York
- Represented a publicly traded real estate investment trust in the sale of an office building in Stamford, Connecticut
- Represented an international investment bank in its leasing of office space in the United States and South America, including Boston, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, and São Paulo
- Represented a foreign residential property owner and manager in the acquisition of various multifamily buildings in New York City
- Represented hotel owners in various restaurant, bar, and other retail leasing and management agreements in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami Beach
