Overview
When the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) was enacted in 2008, the Illinois legislature sought to give consumers control of their own biometric data while still allowing room for the development and evolution of biometric-based technology. Join McDermott Will & Emery Partner David Saunders, Illinois State Representative Ann Williams and Edelson PC Founder Jay Edelson as they share their thoughts on BIPA and what they predict the future holds for the law.
Discussion topics will include:
- The original intent of BIPA
- How BIPA became one of the most polarizing laws in Illinois
- What the future may hold for the statute
