Overview

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce Chicago-based partner Elise McGee and Washington, DC-based partner Caitlin Orr have been elected as Fellows of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).

“Congratulations to Elise and Caitlin for this outstanding accomplishment,” William J. Butler, global head of McDermott’s Private Client Practice, said. “Elise and Caitlin consistently go above and beyond to support clients on their most complex and intricate matters. They are both well-respected amongst their peers and their diligence and critical decision-making has helped them both earn this distinction.”

ACTEC is an organization of lawyers and law professionals who aim to improve trust and tax laws, procedures and professional responsibility. ACTEC Fellows have demonstrated the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence and experience as trust and estate counselors. Individual lawyers meeting the criteria for membership are nominated by Fellows of the College and are selected based on experience, professional reputation and ability in the fields of trusts and estates and based on having made substantial contributions to these fields through lecturing, writing, teaching and bar activities.

Elise advises high-net-worth individuals and business owners on all aspects of wealth-transfer planning, including estate and trust administration, leveraged wealth-transfer techniques, tax matters, cryptocurrency and QSBS planning, real estate transactions and closely held business matters.

Caitlin focuses her practice on private client matters for ultra-high net worth individuals and their families. She advises clients on all aspects of estate and wealth transfer planning, and on a broad range of tax issues including income, gift and estate tax planning for individuals, businesses and charitable organizations.
