Thomas Gennert wrote this bylined article on Germany’s General Equal Treatment Act (AGG), which prohibits discrimination against candidates in the job application process. Although the AGG is “feared,” Mr. Gennert wrote, most of the many lawsuits brought under it have failed “thanks to the so-called ‘AGG-Hopper,’ mainly lawyers who search for allegedly discriminatory content in job advertisements and apply for them intending to sue and seek compensation from the companies.”
