Carol A. Harrington and Erin Fraser were speakers at the 19th Annual Jerry A. Kasner Estate Planning Symposium in Santa Clara, California. The symposium brings together industry experts to discuss the latest trends and strategies in estate planning.

Carol presented during the session “Judicial Anti-Abuse Doctrines in Estate Planning Transactions” on October 5, which discussed anti-abuse doctrines, how they have been applied in the estate planning context and possible ways to protect transactions from these doctrines. She was also a speaker on the closing keynote Q&A panel  “The Life-Changing Magic of Grantor Trusts” on October 6.

Erin presented during the session “Who’s the Fiduciary?” on October 6, which examined important considerations when selecting a trustee. Topics discussed included family dynamics and the impact on the trustee’s duty of impartiality, continuity, compensation, investment acumen, tax implications, and removal and resignation.
