Overview
The Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR) establishes the first uniform legal framework for the issuance and trading of crypto assets. Initial measures taken by BaFin show how regulatory requirements are already being enforced in practice and reviewed by the courts. At the same time, the European Central Bank is working on the introduction of the digital euro—a European electronic means of payment that is distinct from private crypto assets.
In our webinar, Annabelle Rau gave you a concise overview of the current regulatory status under MiCAR, highlighted initial supervisory practices, and outlined key legal aspects of the digital euro. Raminta Dereskeviciute then provided information on EU sanctions in the crypto sector. This part of the webinar was held in English.
