Overview
October 14, 2025 – International law firm McDermott Will & Schulte has been named a finalist for Most Innovative Law Firm as part of the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards North America 2025.
Additionally, McDermott is honored for its groundbreaking work in legal innovation, earning recognition in two distinct categories: Innovation in AI Strategy and Innovation in Knowledge & Data. These awards highlight the firm’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology and data-driven solutions to enhance legal service delivery.
- Innovation in AI Strategy: As one of the first firms to adopt Thomson Reuters’ CoCounsel, McDermott’s Knowledge Management (KM) team developed three production-grade solutions that are transforming litigation, transactional diligence, and firm-wide knowledge capture.
- Innovation in Knowledge & Data: The firm’s KM team developed the Federal District Court Case Hub – a lawyer-designed dashboard that provides a unified view of nearly 1800 federal district court cases worked on by McDermott litigators since 2016, with 24 data fields, including information such as judge, jurisdiction, case type, and client industry as well as litigation analytics from Lex Machina. The KM team worked with McDermott litigators to address some of the most frequent subjects of PPTI emails and searches enabling instant access to key litigation intelligence and empowering our lawyers to deliver faster, smarter strategy across federal district court litigation.
The Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards North America 2025 report, to be released in December, will highlight the firms and in-house teams who are digitally advanced and using innovative approaches to deliver exceptional value to business and society. The report will also highlight outstanding leaders and individuals bringing innovation to the practice of law.
