Overview


Daniel Weston focuses his practice on advising private equity sponsors, management teams corporates and other investors on a range of acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, disposals and restructurings.

He is highly experienced in guiding clients through complex, cross-border transactions, as well “buy-and-build” strategies and other portfolio matters, spanning the lifecycle of an investment. He has particular expertise of operating within the professional services, healthcare and leisure sectors.

Daniel’s emphasis on delivering effective client outcomes has earned him recognition as a “Next Generation Partner” in The Legal 500 UK for Private Equity. He is acknowledged therein as a “strong trusted advisor – standout for commercial acumen, sector knowledge and capabilities.”

Prior to joining McDermott, Daniel was a partner in the Private Equity team at an international law firm.

  • The shareholders of Dains Accountants on their exit to IK Partners, together with management’s reinvestment into the newco structure.*
  • Horizon Capital on a number of high-profile leveraged buyouts of and exits from a range of UK, US and European-based companies, including Sapphire Systems, Ridge & Partners, BP3 and Turnmill.*
  • Phoenix Equity Partners on their leveraged buyouts of 4most and Spy Alarms.*
  • Spire Healthcare on a number of transactions, including its acquisitions of The Claremont Hospital, The Doctors Clinic Group and Vita Health.*
  • Bridges Fund Management on its management buyout and subsequent exit from AgilityEco, through its “Evergreen” impact-focused equity fund.*
  • Mayfair Equity Partners on a number of investments, acquisitions and exits in the leisure, professional services and consumer sectors.*
  • The Talon Outdoor Management team on their reinvestment as part of Equistone’s management buyout (as well as ongoing portfolio acquisitions thereafter).*
