McDermott Advises Spring Creek and CleanCap on Investment in German Solar and Battery Portfolio with MEC Energy

Frankfurt, January 19, 2026 — McDermott Will & Schulte advised Spring Creek Investment Management, a family office based in Philadelphia, and alternative investment advisor CleanCap LLP on an investment into a portfolio of development-stage greenfield solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) to be developed in Germany. The portfolio consists of solar PV projects with a total capacity of more than 500 MWp and battery storage projects with 2.5 GW. As part of the investment, Spring Creek Investment Management is partnering with MEC Energy GmbH, a developer specializing in utility-scale solar and hybrid projects, on this transaction.

MEC Energy GmbH, an MEC Group company based in Düsseldorf, Germany, will develop the projects. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2026. The investment is the first project that CleanCap LLP has advised on in Germany.
