Frankfurt, 03 March 2020 – McDermott Will & Emery advises VR Equitypartner and the remaining shareholders on the sale of their stake in VAUTID GmbH. The buyer is the Taiwanese UP Scientech Materials Corp., a well-known wear plate manufacturer. Going forward, VAUTID will operate as an independent unit of the UP group under its current management.
The VAUTID Group is a global market leader in metal-based wear protection in casting and welding technology. For over 70 years, the company produces hardfacing materials, composite panels as well as hard and stainless steel castings that are particularly resistant to impact, abrasion, heat and corrosion. The Group with about 450 employees and headquartered in Ostfildern near Stuttgart, Germany, is present in over 40 countries and supplies materials and solutions to over 60 countries.
VR Equitypartner is one of the leading equity financers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The company supports medium-sized family businesses with growth and expansion financing, company succession and shareholder changes. VR Equitypartner’s portfolio currently comprises around 100 engagements with an investment volume of €500 million.
The McDermott team advising VR Equitypartner was led by Frankfurt corporate partner Michael Cziesla and included Norman Wasse, Heiko Kermer, Oliver Hahnelt, Nikolas Koutsós, Isabelle Müller and Victoria Huf.
McDermott regularly acts for VR Equitypartner. The team led by Michael Cziesla most recently advised VR Equitypartner and Süd Beteiligungen GmbH (SüdBG) on the sale of the majority stake in DUO PLAST Holding GmbH to Paragon Partners as well as on the sale of their shares in Piller Entgrattechnik GmbH to the Belgian investor group Riflebird, and VR Equitypartner on the acquisition of a stake in the cosmetics company Dr. Neuberger Group.
